Monuments is a photographic project that deals with the contemporary identity of the rural landscape, exploring characteristic aesthetic aspects that are not yet associated with an often idealised vision of rural areas.
Monuments has been shot, like a nocturnal road movie, along the local roads that cross the emblematic landscape of the Empordà region of Catalonia.
Globalisation has brought us new landmarks, neons, luminous signs, from one continent to another. The local landscape is transformed, especially at night, by the americanisation of advertising and the architecture of the petrol stations, cinematographic poetry which speaks in English.
